Express Entry Programs: Eligibility and Requirements

Federal Skilled Worker Program

To be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) under Express Entry, you must:

• Have at least one year of skilled work experience in an eligible occupation
• Have a qualifying educational credential (e.g., a Canadian degree or diploma, or an international equivalent assessed as equal to a Canadian credential)
• Meet the language proficiency requirement in English or French (CLB 7)

Canadian Experience Class

To be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) under Express Entry, you must:

• Have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada in an eligible occupation
• Have a valid Canadian post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate
• Meet the language proficiency requirement in English or French (CLB 7)

Federal Skilled Trades Program

To be eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) under Express Entry, you must:

• Have at least two years of skilled work experience in a certified trade
• Have a qualifying trade certificate or diploma
• Meet the language proficiency requirement in English or French (CLB 5)
